Seeing A Tabi (Successor) in a Dream

Whoever sees the reciters (al-qurrāʾ) gathered in one place, then people of authority—such as rulers, merchants, and scholars—will gather there.

Whoever sees some of the righteous among the dead having become alive in his town, then the people of that town will attain prosperity, joy, and justice from their governor, and the condition of their leader will improve.

Dream of al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (رحمه الله)

Al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (رحمه الله) saw in a dream as if he was wearing wool, with a belt (kustīj) around his waist, shackles on his feet, a honey-colored cloak (ṭaylasān ʿasalī) over him, standing on a garbage heap, holding a tambourine which he was playing, while leaning against the Kaʿbah.

I related this vision to Ibn Sīrīn, and he said:

As for the woolen cloak, it signifies his asceticism.
The belt symbolizes his strength in the religion of Allah.
The honey-colored cloak indicates his love for the Qur’an and his interpretation of it to the people.
The shackles on his feet represent his steadfastness in piety.
His standing on the garbage heap means that he placed the world beneath his feet.
His playing the tambourine signifies spreading his wisdom among people.
His leaning on the Kaʿbah shows his reliance on Allah, the Mighty and Exalted.
