- Lightning without rain signifies an impending disaster or trouble, affecting both travelers (musaafir) and those who are settled (muqeem).
- Lightning accompanied by rain symbolizes healing and recovery, especially for a sick person.
Lightning: For a musaafir (traveller) it symbolises fear and danger. And for a mugeem (one who is not on a journey) it symbolises hope. This is in view of the verse of the Holy Qur’aan: It is He (Allah) who shows you lightning as a means of instilling fear (in you, for, such a rain may turn out to be disastrous!) and as a means of instilling hope (in you, for, such a rain may be most fruitful).
It is said that lightning without rain symbolises impending disaster for both, a musaafir as well as mugeem. It is also said that lightning with rain symbolises cure and remedy for a sick person.
