Prophet Muhammad SAWS Seeing Jesus in Dream
Abdullah Bin Umar (RA) reported that Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) said:
“Last night, I saw myself at the Ka’aba. There, I saw a man with fair skin and a beautiful appearance circumambulating the Ka’aba. I asked, ‘Who is this man?’ A voice replied, ‘This is Jesus, son of Mary.’
Then, I saw another man who looked ugly, had wrinkled skin, and was blind in his right eye. I asked, ‘Who is this man?’ A voice replied, ‘This is Al-Masih Dajjal, the false messiah.’”
A Man took Prophet Muhammad SAWS on a Journey
The Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) often asked his companions if they had seen any dreams. One morning, he told them about a dream he had the night before.
In his dream, two people came to him and took him on a journey. First, they came across a man lying down, while another man was standing over him with a large rock. He kept smashing the man’s head with it, and each time, the man’s head would heal, and the process would repeat.
Then, they saw another man lying on his back, with someone standing over him using an iron hook. He tore one side of the man’s face, nose, and eye from front to back. When he finished, the face would heal, and he would repeat the process on the other side.
Next, they came to a pit like an oven, where men and women were naked and screaming as flames rose beneath them.
They then reached a river that looked like blood. A man was swimming in it, and each time he approached the shore, another man fed him stones to swallow before he continued swimming.
They also saw a terrifying man near a fire, constantly adding fuel to it and running around it.
After this, they reached a lush green garden with many children and a very tall man in the middle. Then, they entered a massive, beautiful garden with a grand city made of gold and silver bricks. Inside, they saw men whose bodies were half handsome and half ugly. They were ordered to wash themselves in a river that looked like milk. After bathing, they became completely beautiful.
The Prophet was told that this place was Paradise and that he had a palace there, but he would enter it later.
His companions then explained the meaning of everything he had seen:
- The man whose head was crushed ignored the Quran and neglected prayers.
- The man with his face torn apart was a liar who spread falsehoods.
- The people in the oven were adulterers.
- The man in the river was someone who consumed interest (riba).
- The man by the fire was Malik, the guardian of Hell.
- The tall man in the garden was Prophet Abraham, surrounded by children who had died young.
- The people who were half ugly and half handsome had mixed good and bad deeds, but Allah forgave them.
The Prophet also confirmed that even the children of non-Muslims were included among those in Abraham’s care.
Three Types of Dream
Abu Hurairah narrated that Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) said:
1. True Dreams in the End Times:
Near the end of time, a believer’s dreams will rarely be false. The most truthful people will have the most accurate dreams.
2. Three Types of Dreams:
- Good dreams – These are glad tidings from Allah.
- Dreams reflecting personal experiences – These come from a person’s own thoughts or past experiences.
- Scary dreams from Shaitan – These are meant to frighten and disturb the dreamer.
3. What to Do After a Bad Dream:
If someone sees a bad dream, they should wake up and perform Salah (prayer).
4. Interpretation of Symbols:
Abu Hurairah mentioned that he liked fetters (chains) but disliked iron collars. He explained that fetters represent steadfastness in religion.
5. Dreams and Prophethood:
The Prophet (SAWS) also said that dreams are one part of the forty-six parts of Prophethood, meaning that true dreams have a connection to divine revelation.
Prophet Muhammad SAWS and Abu Bakr Climbing a Ladder in Dream
Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) told his companion Abu Bakr (RA) about a dream where they were climbing a ladder, but the Prophet went two steps higher than Abu Bakr.
- Interpretation by Abu Bakr (RA):
This meant that the Prophet (SAWS) would pass away first, and Abu Bakr (RA) would live for two and a half years after his passing.
Prophet Muhammad Saw a Flock of Black Sheep in Dream
In another dream, Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) saw a flock of black sheep followed by a flock of white sheep.
- Interpretation by Abu Bakr (RA):
The black sheep represented the Arabs who would embrace Islam first, and the white sheep symbolized non-Arabs who would later follow Islam.
These dreams showed the wisdom of Abu Bakr (RA) in interpreting visions and the unfolding future of Islam.
