The Dream of the Two Fighting Sheep

A man approached Ibn Sirin (RA) and said he had a troubling and embarrassing dream but felt too ashamed to share it. The Imam asked him to write it down. The man explained that he had been away from home for three months, and when he returned, he found his wife asleep while two sheep with horns fought near her bed. One sheep injured the other. Disturbed by the dream, the man stayed away from his wife despite his deep love for her.

After reading the letter, Ibn Sirin told the man not to leave his wife, as she was a virtuous woman. He explained that the dream likely meant that the wife, upon hearing of her husband’s return, hurriedly tried to remove her public hair but accidentally hurt herself with scissors. Ibn Sirin advised the man to check for confirmation.

The man went to his wife and expressed his desire to be close to her. She asked why he had avoided her for seven months. He explained his dream and the Imam’s interpretation. She confirmed the Imam’s words, then took his hand and showed him the wound. Satisfied, the man returned to Ibn Sirin, who thanked Allah for guiding him to the correct interpretation.
